Ernie's 70th Birthday

June 5th we took Farah to the Long Beach airport to fly to Utah to attend EFY "Especially For Youth" for one week. After we dropped Farah off at the airport, Scott and I had a nice visit with Grandma Terrill. Fran and Dee greeted us at Grandma Terrill's home for a mini reunion. Fran and Dee returned June 1st from their 18 month mission to Australia. We enjoyed hearing all about Australia- the people, the animals, and of course the food!

Saturday night Scott and I drove to Palm Springs to visit Dad & Sharon. Sunday June 6th was Dad's 70th Birthday- Scott treated everyone to a delicious dinner at Stuart Anderson's Black Angus, which now goes by the name "Stuart's". We enjoyed our dinner and got to watch a little line dancing too.

It's a beautiful day...

Went to Grandma Fortner's
graveside in Cambria

Scott really surprised me on Mother's Day. After Sacrament meeting at church he said, let's go! I had no idea where we were going, but the girls were in on it! We drove to the coast for the day- it was a beautiful clear sunny day, which was much appreciated because we had rain and wind at home. We ate lunch at the Madonna Inn, walked on the beach, and visited Grandma Fortner's graveside. Scott gave me a beautiful Mother's Day ring- I love it!

The Friday before Mother's Day I drove to Bakersfield to spend the night with my Mother. We managed to squeeze in a little shopping at Macy's Friday night. She bought me the pretty white blouse that I am wearing in the above pictures. My Mother suggested a pedicure, massage or facial for Mother's Day... always looking to save a dime I suggested the local beauty school. I should preface this with my past experience with the local beauty school. My neighbor's daughter needed to accumulate points of credit during beauty school. I was trying to be neighborly and helped her out by buying a $10.oo chocolate facial, yes chocolate! I had low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. My Mother and I arrived at 10:30 A.M. for our day of beauty... after waiting a half hour our day began! First the facial... the girl left half of the cream on my Mom's face. The guy giving me a pedicure cut my cuticle, and apologized profusely for doing so. The pedicure solution burned my Mother's feet and turned them bright red. My manicure looked like my four-year-old niece painted my nails- no offense Scarlett. We had to postpone our lunch reservation from 1:00 to 1:30. We arrived at "A Bit of Germany" which is a charming local restaurant, that apparently uses a dinner only menu on Saturdays with dinner prices too. Oh, and they close at 2:00 on Saturday afternoons, which might explain why the waitress left our food and the check simultaneously, and then returned five minutes later to ask me if I would like a box for my food. Sometimes you just have to laugh...

Saturday May 8, 2010 We attended our first Roller Derby. It was in Fresno- and it was a lot of fun! Scott's clerk Christy plays for "The Atomic Assaults" and she asked us to attend her game. We discovered Kathy Bengal (my second cousin Austin's mom) also plays for the Assaults. So, we had two team players to cheer for. The "Atomic Assaults" won 92-63.

Happy Easter 2010

"Oh sweet the joy this sentence gives: I know that my Redeemer lives!"

We celebrated Easter at my parent's home- it was really a nice day. We colored Easter Eggs, visited and ate a delicious dinner. For dinner we had ham, mashed potatoes, asparagus, Asian Salad, ambrosia, deviled eggs, croissant rolls, and an English Trifle for dessert. Everyone had a question under their dinner plate, my question was "What is your favorite Bible Story?" I have many favorites, but I chose the story of Christ's birth. Scott was asked his favorite scripture, he quoted Joshua 1:9, "Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest". Falyn was asked what she likes most about being LDS, and she answered, she likes being able to answer these 3 simple questions with confidence: Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? Falyn said the majority of her friends don't know the answer to these questions. Farah was asked her favorite primary song, she said, "Give Said The Little Stream". Poppy was asked about how he felt the first time he read "The Book of Mormon" he gave a sweet testimony, and had everyone tearing up. Grandma was asked to share her first experience with the Holy Ghost, she related a sweet story about her childhood, and how she would tremble bearing her testimony as a young child, she had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. It was an uplifting day-

we ought to hear at least one little song every day, read a good poem, see a first-rate painting, and if possible speak a few sensible words.
