In the words of Billy Madison: T-T-T-TODAY JUNIOR!
Straight???
DECISION MADE!The purpose of going back-to-school... decision making! "Miss. Me" jeans, Anthropologie, curly, straight, bling, no bling, flip-flops, gladiators, Ray-Ban, Aviators, bag, backpack, etc. These are all-important decisions- for once you decide you have an absolutely defining sense of self: Miss. Me. Straight. Bling. Bag. Made! Seriously... I can't believe my baby is a junior in high school today... she is all-around awesome!

Happily Ever After...
Falyn, Amanda, Farah, and ShellyAugust 3, 2010 we attended Amanda & Austin's wedding at the Salt Lake City Temple. The wedding was performed by Elder M. Russell Ballard (Amanda's grandpa). It was a beautiful ceremony which was followed by a luncheon reception at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Falyn and Amanda have been best friends since they were six years old, naturally Falyn was Amanda's Maid of Honor. Scott was not able to attend the wedding- he was in Virgina attending the National Boy Scout Jamboree.
We spent one week in Utah and enjoyed spending time with family and dear friends. We were treated to a delicious lasagne dinner by Aunt Nancy last Thursday night. We visited with Julie, Brittney, Taylor, Debra, Lisa, John, Amber, and of course Aunt Nancy and Uncle Henry. Friday we stayed with the Murdock family. Stacey treated us to Chicken Parmesan-excellent! Falyn and Amanda stayed up all night watching movies and trying on Amanda's wedding gown. Farah and Douglas have been the best of friends since they were two years old- they stayed up until 3:00 AM watching movies and catching up. Saturday we met our good friends Jackie, Kory, and Ryan Newsom in Brigham City at Maddox Ranch House for lunch- great food, even better company! The Newsom's brought Falyn's things (from her apartment) from Idaho to Utah-they are the nicest friends. It was so good to see them and talk to them in person- not that I don't enjoy talking on the phone, but nothing makes the heart happier than seeing a best friend in person! Sunday we attended church with Mom & Dee, we really enjoyed relaxing and making ourselves at home. Monday we drove back to Salt Lake to visit with Shannon, Charlie and children, and Kelly and children. My good friend Lee Ann Hansen joined us and brought some sinful treats from a no doubt evil bakery! Monday night Aunt Nancy and Uncle Henry hosted dinner and FHE for us, Debra & Shawn, John, Lisa and children, Julie, Butch and children, Sonya and children, Spencer, and Tyrel. What a group! Tuesday was Amanda's beautiful wedding and reception, and on Wednesday Farah and I flew home. What a wonderful week...

R.I.P. FORD EXPLORER...

R.I.P.
Cars, Weddings, August, and Utah... this strange combination seems to be the bane of our family. Case in point, Shannon & Charlie's wedding August 1999, my parents drove their beautiful silver Jaguar all the way to St. George, before it broke down- causing them to miss Shannon's wedding. August 2009, Kathleen & Daven's wedding, we drove our Ford Explorer all the way to Las Vegas before it broke down! Katy Perry's "Waking up in Vegas" was a big hit that trip! And, yes we missed the wedding; although we got the car fixed in time to drive ALL NIGHT in time for the reception! August 2010 Amanda & Austin's wedding, I took the Explorer in for an oil change and found out it has a leak in the rack and pinion (whatever that means) an internal transmission problem, and a bad power seat. Our mechanic Ron, said "It's time for a new car, tell Scott I said that". We were supposed to leave for Utah yesterday-at least the car broke before the trip! We may make Amanda & Austin's August/Utah wedding (knock on wood).

She'll always be Daddy's Girl...

"Little woman gonna break your heart
Gonna miss her when you're both apart
She's a lady, but she'll always be Daddy's Girl"
Gonna miss her when you're both apart
She's a lady, but she'll always be Daddy's Girl"
We have a tradition in our family... Dad is "The First Date". Scott takes the girls on their first date. He opens their car door, takes them to the restaurant of their choice, and a movie too. Farah chose "Vintage Press" and "Toy Story3" both excellent choices. Farah dined on filet mignon, and Scott enjoyed lamb kabobs, with raspberry cheesecake for dessert. Every date should be this perfect!

Everybody, yeah Rock your body right Backstreet's back, alright!
Backstreet Boys
Farah (from the back) Friend Maria, and ShellyStaples Center March 15, 2001 we saw Backstreet Boys in concert for the first time "Black and Blue" Tour. Farah was only six years old, and Falyn was ten. Farah stood on her chair smiled and sang every song with all her heart. July 1, 2010 almost ten years later- Backstreet Boys in concert "This is Us" tour. Farah is sixteen and Falyn is twenty, Farah stood up the entire concert smiled and sang her heart out. Falyn said, "Who said you can't buy happiness?" Nick Carter just blew me a kiss ;) "Every time we're down you can make it right and that makes you larger than life"

we ought to hear at least one little song every day, read a good poem, see a first-rate painting, and if possible speak a few sensible words.
